UK fans of the Eurovision song Contest want to see the original members of smash hit 1980s band, Bucks Fizz Cheryl, Mike, Jay (and they hope Bobby) perform at the special event that will be recorded at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo in London to be broadcast across 21 European countries and the Eurovision’s most recent competitor, Australia. A Facebook page was set up and is already approaching 1,000 likes. Clearly, the iconic 1981 Eurovision Song Contest winners still have a strong fan-base 34 years after Making Your Mind Up won the competition.

In order to generate publicity on social media, fans have been giving captions to photos of well-known celebrities and former Eurovision Competitors. Amongst those shown to be supporting Bucks Fizz for the Eurovision’s Greatest Hits show are President Obama and The Queen, Margaret Thatcher, Joan Rivers, John McEnroe, Conchita Wurst, Verka Seduchka. Leading UK drag queens Cherry Poppin & Dave Lynn recorded a video of support and former Eurovision winner Katrina Leskanich (Katrina and the Waves) and Sonia (2nd place, 1993) have backed Bucks Fizz to perform along with a number of 1980s icons including Erasure and Christopher Biggins.

The #iwantmyfizz campaign has been trending on twitter and reached more than 13,000 people on Facebook. It has been covered in articles about the Bucks Fizz line-up addition in the Sunday Mirror and Metro Online. Later today, Cheryl, Mike and Jay will take to the tv screens with an appearance on Mel & Sue (ITV 1600).
